Fem-uary: Painting

With February over I can say I have completed what I set out to do and more!

What pleases me the most is models I've been sitting on for months (maybe even a year or so) are getting finished!

Below are the steps I followed when painting these models:

For Newt, Vasquez and Dietrich I followed the same process when it came to the armour and webbing/straps

Magus

Took the photo as I started - whoops

I love this model, I've always loved this model, it's a great alternative to the original arm outstretched Magus.
Due to not wanting to pay £15+ for a single model I held out, I finally got this model as part of the combat patrol magazine subscription.
Loving this model meant wanting to do a great paint job on it but I just had issue after issue, which was really frustrating. The red wouldn't go over contrast red well, the flesh wouldn't apply well.
I persevered and I'm pretty pleased with the result

Wyld Runner

These are a kitbash of Escher parts and Daughters of Khaine Witch Aelves - I thought their dynamic poses matches the fluidity of the Escher. Although they're wearing less than you're likely to see on an Escher Ganger but as Wyld Runner only get "flak armour" it's not so different.
I tried to remove or cover with putty aspects that point to their Elven heritage.

These in particular will be used if I get the Tactics card that grants a Wyld Runner

  • Skin:
    • MC: Basic Skin (70.815)
    • AP: Speed paint Crusader Skin
As I've mentioned in previous posts I wasn't convinced on AP Speed paint for skin tones; I'd been applying it on Grey primer which just doesn't work. If, however, it's applied over Basic Skin it's brilliant and creates such a great effect. Much better than what I had previously been doing with Tan then Dwarf Skin.
  • Cloth and armour
    • GW: Contrast: Blood Angels red
    • Brown wash
    • GC: Bloody red (72.010) solid on the armour, highlight/drybrush on the cloth.
  • Dagger & Whip handle
    • GC: Gunmetal (72.054)
    • GC: Chainmail (72.053)
    • AP: Green wash
  • Hair (Brown)
    • GC: Scorched Brown (72.045)
    • Black wash
    • GC: Beasty Brown (72.043) (drybrush)
    • Streak of GC: Cold Grey (72.050) down oneside and Cold Grey tips
    • black wash
  • Hair (Green)
    • RAC: Leaf Green (364)
    • GC: Goblin Green (# has worn off the bottle)
    • GC: Escorpena Green (72.032) drybrushed highlights
